The chief justice of the judicial council has invoked the judicial review on all the newly appointed justices into the judicial council of the student Union Government, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa.
According to him the appointments were made without following due process and also most of the appointees didn’t meet the academic requirements. Read the release.

Sequence to the appointments of Associate Justices and Administrative Officers into the Judicial Council Of the Student’s Union Government by his Excellency Comrade Debekeme Kojo Debekeme in exercise of the constitutional powers bestowed upon him by section 11, paragraph B, C and D of the Student’s Union Constitution, the Judicial Council headed by LORD CHIEF JUSTICE EPOUWEI SAMUEL E as the custodian of the constitution in making sure that all other organs comply strictly with the provisions of the constitution invoke the constitutional Doctrine of JUDICIAL REVIEW and ordered as follows.
1. That in strict compliance of section 12(2), (5) of the Student’s Union Constitution, all Associate Justices and Administrative officers appointed into the Judicial Council should submit their results showing the current CGPA to the LORD CHIEF JUSTICE on or before Sunday July 13 2019
2. That any Associate Justice or Administrative Officer so appointed who failed to comply strictly with ORDER 1 above on or before the stipulated time shall not be admitted into the Judicial Council.
3. That the Parliamentary(Senate) arm of the Student’s Union Government headed by the Senate President is ordered not to consider the appointment list of Associate Justices and Administrative Officers until a clearance note is sent to the House by the Lord Chief Justice.
4. That the Lord Chief Justice shall duly examine the persons so appointed as Associate Justices and Administrative Officers in terms of academics and attitude whether they are fit and proper to be admitted into the Judicial Council and thereafter a Note of clearance shall be sent to the Parliament (Senate).
5.That Non compliance of ORDER 1 and 3 above by the concerned persons shall be treated as CONTEMPT OF COURT.
