Hon. Sen. Debekeme Kojo Debekeme from the faculty of education has been declared winner of the 2019 FUOtuoke student union Government elections.
The election which was done electronically had a total of 3,606 votes for the presidential category and Debekeme polled a total of 2,807 votes to defeat his opponents.
The caretaker committee chairman, Comr. Barry who was also the eleco chairman while declaring the winners thanked all candidates for seeing to it that the entire electioneering process was peaceful and rated the process as a fair one.
The Dean of student affairs, Dr Joseph Umoro however has said that though there were reports of some irregularities and alleged manipulation by the management from quarters, the election process would be said to be free and fair, owning to the fact that a reasonable amount of progress was achieved and assured that those irregularities would be addressed in subsequent elections since this was the maiden e-voting.
