It has been a very busy week for the newly admitted students of Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State for the 2018/2019 academic session and they have been engaged in series of orientations.
The FUOtuoke Orientation for the academic session for 100l students started on Monday 4th Feb., 2019 with the departmental orientation where the students were familiarized with the courses they are to undertake, their lecturers, various HODs, how to calculate their GP, CGPA et al.
On Tuesday 5th, all departments were once again brought together under their various faculties as the orientation programme moved to the faculty level. The students had the opportunity of meeting their colleagues in other departments. Departmental presidents were also around to grace the event.
There were interactions between the newly admitted students with their deans, lecturers, senior colleagues and also their faculty presidents.
The orientation programme for the newly admitted students was brought to a cap today as it was the general orientation for all 100 level students and it was held at the university auditorium, skills.
The event was graced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Teddy A., different heads of departments in the institution, deans of faculties, HODs and all other protocols in the university who took time to talk to the students, motivate and inspire them and also counsel them.
The management used the opportunity to inform the students that they should count themselves lucky because out of over 11,000 candidates that applied for the post utme exam, only 2, 896 were admitted.
For the students, their joy could not be expressed as they couldn’t hold themselves as they took to, shouting and desk hitting and giving resounding applause after each speaker speaks.
The SUG was not left out also as the Comr. Bari, the caretaker chairman was on ground to ginger the students and take them on a ride to awaken the aluta consciousness of the students.
The even which started sometime around 10am was brought to a close 1:45pm by a vote of thanks, taken by Kosisochukwu Obodoefunaa 100l chemical engineering student while his colleague in the same department by name Chibunna Desmond took the closing prayers.
