The dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Joseph Umoro has said the management is not interested in who wins any position in the forthcoming Federal University Otuoke Student Union Government elections.
He made it categorically clear to all who were present at the demonstration of the e-voting process held earlier today at the ICT building. In his statement, he reiterated that the management is willing to work with any candidate who emerges the winner.
We are only interested in the process because the university is a place where solutions are provided to societal problems and we are adopting e-voting so that the society can come to the university to learn, besides this process has been implemented in several universities and it is working so there’s nothing wrong in FUO doing same. He said.
He also made is clear that no lecturer or staff or whosoever has the right to tell any student who has bought election form to step down for any reason. What lecturers should do is only advice if the need be and not to tell anyone to step down.
The head of SERVICOM unit who was also present advised that proper sensitization about the whole process, from beginning to end be made so that every student will be properly carried along and not be disenfranchised. Meanwhile the election process/modalities has been made available to students.
