I Rtr. Comr. Gbaanei Victor Baribefe, condemn with the entire student community here in FUO and beyond, the inactions of the management of the school (Federal University Otuoke) for the postponement of the student union government (SUG) election which was to hold on Friday 17/05/2019.
It will be recalled that in the last general congress meeting that was held sometime in April, the entire student community unanimously agreed on manual voting.
It will also be recalled that the management brought the idea of e-voting and imposed same on the entire student community which they said without which there will be no election.
The race began with purchase of forms by aspirants. The aspirants were equally responsible for their campaign expenses during the period. The only thing which was supposed to be done by the management is the distributions of e-pin for the e-voting process.
Sadly, the mechanism and structures which were to be put in place by the management to enable the smooth running of the process was either negligently handled or redundantly neglected. This is a total failure on their part and lack of sustainability of formulated policies.
On the other hand, I appeal to the entire student community to remain calm and law abiding so as not to disqualify their candidates as a result some actions or inactions. Let us all give them till the proposed Wednesday. We shall all make the streets of FUO in particular and Otuoke in general very busy with intense protests if they failed by Wednesday.
I assure you that the process if successful shall not only be very free but fair and credible. There shall be no and can never be any form of manipulations. Thanks and have a blissful week.
Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!!
